Arash Ferdowsi ( Persian آرش فردوسی, DMG Araš Firdausī ; Born October 7, 1985 in Overland Park / Metropolitan Kansas City ) is an American entrepreneur. He is one of the two founders of Dropbox .

Career

Ferdowsi is of Iranian descent, grew up in Kansas City , attended Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park until 2004, then studied at MIT and was about to graduate. With his partner Drew Houston , Ferdowsi founded Dropbox in 2007. In September 2007 the company moved to San Francisco , California (USA). Dropbox offers personal cloud and client software. Allegedly Ferdowsi and Houston are said to have rejected an offer from Steve Jobs in 2008 , who visited them and made them an offer of 800 million US dollars for the then still young start-up company. Dropbox is now valued between eight and 10 billion US dollars. Ferdowsi is less public than his partner Houston and there are few interviews with him. He was CTO until October 2016 .

According to the US business magazine Forbes, Arash Ferdowsi has a fortune of around 500 million US dollars (as of December 2015) and is ranked 18th on the list of the richest Iranians .
