The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Rinderzüchter eV (ADR) in Bonn was the umbrella organization for organized cattle breeding in Germany. The association served to summarize and promote all efforts to improve breeding, keeping, insemination, embryo transfer and performance testing and quality testing of cattle as well as the utilization of their products. In 2017, it came up with other organizations in the Bundesverband Rind und Schwein eV, Bonn, also a member of the umbrella association of German animal breeders .

Board

The board was elected for 3 years and consisted of 12 members. It included:

  • Josef Hannen, chairman; then also first chairman of the BRS eV,
  • Erich Pilhofer, Deputy Chairman
  • Bianca Lind, executive board member

tasks

The association represented the interests in the areas of breeding, insemination, performance testing and breeding value estimation, in particular of

  • 19 breeders' associations
  • 10 breeding and insemination organizations
  • 10 AI stations
  • 14 milk test organizations (12 state control associations, 2 milk test rings)
  • 22 breed associations.

The main tasks included:

  • to negotiate with authorities and other organizations in all matters of cattle production and the utilization of their products in close coordination with the professional representation and to give them professional advice,
  • to develop uniform principles especially for
    • Breeding bookkeeping for artificial insemination, biotechnology, especially embryo transfer, performance and quality testing , breeding value assessments , promoting the health of cattle, animal welfare and
    • Recognition, exhibition and training systems,
  • Participation in scientific research and experiments in the fields of cattle production, animal welfare and animal health,
  • international representation of German cattle production
  • Promotion of cattle production and the marketing of their products in specialist committees with the participation of representatives of the federal government, science and, if necessary, related economic sectors
  • Promotion of performance and maintenance breeding.

The recommendations and guidelines developed by the ADR over the years on many issues relating to cattle breeding continue to be of practical importance as an evaluation standard in the sense of rules of good professional practice and the state of the art .
