The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Züchtungskunde eV (DGfZ) is a specialist society that sees itself as a cross-species link in the field of livestock sciences by connecting science, administration and practice including the upstream and downstream stages; she is a member of the Association of German Animal Breeders .
Tasks and structure
The DGfZ was founded in 1905 as a non-profit association and is based in Bonn . The association is the official representative of Germany at the European Association for Animal Production (EVT) and is therefore financially supported by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection .
The organ of publication is the Züchtungskunde magazine , which is published by Ulmer Verlag . In addition, European research results are discussed and market analyzes are developed in specialist conferences, lectures and workshops.
The working groups are:
- the genetic statistical committee
- the Advisory Board for Animal Genetic Resources
- the working group for food of animal origin
- the editorial committee and the editorial staff of the Züchtungskunde magazine.
Animal science students are supported through scholarships and grants. People who have made a contribution to livestock science and veterinary medicine are honored with the Hermann von Nathusius Medal , the Adolf Köppe needle (named after Adolf Köppe ) or honorary membership of the DGfZ.
