Hermann von Nathusius Medal

The Hermann von Nathusius Medal was donated in 1928 by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Züchtungskunde eV (DGfZ) in memory of Hermann Engelhard von Nathusius , an important German animal breeder. The usually annual award ceremony honors personalities who have distinguished themselves in animal breeding or product knowledge.

The DGFZ was founded in 1905 as a non-profit association. According to its statutes, the society should serve progress in the fields of animal breeding, animal husbandry , animal nutrition, reproduction and the health of farm animals in close cooperation between animal breeding and veterinary medicine .
