Hans Gutbrod (veterinarian)

Hans Gutbrod (born September 28, 1877 in Munich , † May 12, 1948 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria ) was a German veterinarian , animal breeding director and member of the state parliament in Bavaria.

Live and act

After studying veterinary medicine and obtaining a license to practice medicine at the Royal University of Veterinary Medicine in Munich , he worked from 1898 to 1903 as a municipal and district veterinarian in Mitterfels , Selb , Landshut and Moosburg . After passing the animal breeding manager exam, he had various tasks in the Bavarian animal breeding administration until 1938, in particular in the animal breeding inspection in Würzburg , where he took over the management of the "Lower Franconian breeding association for the yellow high cattle".

From 1920 to 1924 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the Bavarian Middle Party .

From 1939 to 1945 Gutbrod worked in the Bavarian State Farmers' Union and continued to support the breeding of the German yellow cattle . He published several books on the animal species beef, pork and goat, some in several editions, which were primarily intended for practical farmers. For his many years of successful work as senior veterinarian, animal breeding director and author, he received an honorary doctorate from the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (LMU).
