The working group controls declared raw materials e. V. (ARGE kdR) is a non-profit association based in Frankfurt am Main and an office in Karlsruhe .

founding

The association was founded in 2002/2003 on the occasion of a call for tenders on the subject of "Course development for building with renewable raw materials". This tender by the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection was largely awarded to ARGE kdR by the Agency for Renewable Raw Materials and the “Competence Center for Renewable Raw Materials”. ARGE kDR is a member of the German Nature Conservation Ring (DNR) .

task

The association is an interest group for various disciplines and economic sectors with the aim of promoting and developing products and processes made from sustainable and renewable raw materials. In addition, the association develops guidelines for environmentally and health-friendly concepts and is active within the framework of the European Committee for Standardization for European environmental and consumer protection organizations.

aims

  • Comprehensive promotion of companies with the aim of anchoring the growing proportions of sustainable products and systems in the economic cycle and in the public

Charter for wood

The ARGE kdR was accredited by the umbrella organization of national environmental and consumer protection associations, the German Nature Conservation Ring, to represent interests in the Charter for Wood . The aim of this political measure by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection is to increase the sale of wood stocks from local forest owners, because only 40 million cubic meters of the approximately 60 million cubic meters of renewable wood stocks are harvested every year. In the Council for Sustainable Development , an advisory body of the German Federal Government, the concerns of the Charter for Wood were taken up in order to include the topic of “Forests and Wood” as a focus in a national sustainability strategy . The German Nature Conservation Ring the recommendations have been proposed to implement for

  • Education and teaching
  • Environmental labeling of products and systems made from sustainable, renewable raw materials
  • Implementation of research projects in the field of wooden house construction .

Ecological building materials dictionary

As part of the “Promotion for Sustainable Procurement” project, the authors Manfred Krines and Holger König from the ARGE kdR have transferred, adapted and expanded a guideline for public procurement in the building industry funded by the Federal Environment Ministry and the Federal Environment Agency . The guide with ISBN 3-937671-15-3 is published by the Bundesverband für Umweltberatung e. V. published in Bremen.

With the regulated full declaration and the "R" symbolism, a clear code number, e.g. B. R0400123 , with which the ingredients of products and systems are quickly and comprehensively available electronically. In addition, with the colored R symbol, the resource shares can be transparently displayed and balanced on a scientific basis. Planners, consultants, dealers, processors and consumers can use it to identify the share of resources contained in the product and make sustainable purchase decisions.

The new database for product data management

With funds from the DBU ( Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt ), ARGE kdR developed a new data program with which in future the substance data and information on hazardous substances in the products can be recorded and checked on the basis of the “regulated full declaration” . From June 1, 2007, this will be provided for in the new European chemicals regulation REACH . Here, both producers and sellers have more responsibility to take on in the area of product ingredients.

New evaluation criterion at ÖKO-TEST

In September 2006, the Öko-Test- Verlag commissioned ARGE kdR to review series of tests with regard to declarations and labels that conform to the law and guidelines.

  • Tinted wall colors in the June 2009 issue
  • Wood glazes inside + outside in the April 2009 issue
  • Tinting colors in the May 2007 issue
  • Weißlacke in the April 2007 issue
  • Wall colors in the March 2007 issue
