The architecture building is a structure in Darmstadt .
Architecture and history
The faculty building of the architecture faculty of the University of Darmstadt was built in the mid-1950s. Stylistically, the building belongs to the modern and post-war modern .
The three- story atrium building has an almost square floor plan . The outer walls are made of yellow brickwork. The outer walls in the atrium are made of red brickwork. The east facade and a small part of the west facade are clad with blue ceramic tiles. On the south side of the building there is a passage to the atrium at ground floor level . The foundation and the floor slabs are made of reinforced concrete . The building has a flat roof .
Inside the building, the walls are partly made of yellow and partly red brickwork. Part of the interior walls were covered with blue ceramic tiles. The stairwell on the northwest corner of the building has small artistically designed colorful windows.
There are several modern works of art in the atrium.
The renovation of the ailing department building began in the 2000s .
Monument protection
For architectural and city-historical reasons, the department building is a listed building.
