The Ardex GmbH (proper spelling ARDEX ) is an in-family building materials manufacturer based in Witten . The company is active in the field of special chemical building materials and is represented in over 100 countries with 49 subsidiaries and 3000 employees. In 2018 a turnover of approx. € 770 million was generated.

The company, founded in 1949 as NORWAG-Werke GmbH Chemische Fabrik, Witten, initially dealt with the manufacture of metalworking oils, window putty and waxes. At the beginning of the 1950s, the name was changed to Ardex Chemie. The market response to the product launch of a newly developed floor filler was the beginning of the company's development, which has continued to this day.

Over the years, the product range has been expanded further and today includes many areas of construction chemical products: shell products for concrete cosmetics and repairs, bitumen products for building waterproofing, quick- release cements , screeds, substrate preparations , floor leveling compounds for leveling and leveling sub- floors, epoxy industrial floors, coating of floor surfaces in Private and industrial sectors, seals under tile coverings, tile adhesives for tiles, natural stones and insulation materials, grout for tiles and marble, silicone sealants for the construction sector, wall fillers for smoothing wall surfaces, flooring and parquet adhesives for carpets, parquet, etc.

In 2000 Ardex took over the American WW Henry Company and in 2002 the British Norcros Group, opening up markets in Australia, China and the USA. Since 2005, the Barsbüttel- based company Lugato has also been part of the Ardex Group. In 2012 Ardex acquired a majority stake in QUICSEAL Construction Chemicals in Asia and in 2014 Gutjahr Systemtechnik. Wakol has been part of the Ardex Group since 2015.

Brands

In addition to Ardex, the Ardex Group also includes other brands that are oriented differently depending on the region and customer segment: Aba, Ardex, DTA, Endura, Bal, Cemix, Ceramfix, Dunlop Adhesives, Gutjahr, Henry, Loba, Lugato, Nexus, Pandomo, Wakol, Quicseal, and Seire.

Lugato

Lugato sells its products primarily through DIY stores. The production as well as the administration and service center are located in Barsbüttel (Schleswig-Holstein). After Lugato had been family-owned since 1919, the company has been part of the Ardex Group since 2005.

Gutjahr

Ardex has held a majority stake in Gutjahr Systemtechnik since 2014. The company, headquartered in Bickenbach (Bergstrasse), develops complete solutions for the drainage, ventilation and decoupling of coverings on balconies, terraces and external stairs as well as indoors and on facades that are used in numerous European countries.

Wakol

Wakol has been part of the Ardex Group since 2015. More than 160 people are employed at the company's headquarters in Pirmasens . Wakol develops, produces and sells adhesives.
