Arducius de Faucigny

Arducius de Faucigny († July 25, 1185 ), Latinized by Ardizo (Hartwich), was Bishop of Geneva from 1135 to 1185 .

Arducius comes from the noble family of the Lords of Faucigny . Arducius was the son of Raoul, Lord of Faucigny and Constance de Beauvoir, and nephew of the Bishop of Lausanne , Giroldus de Faucigny . From 1126/1130 until his death he was provost of the Lausanne cathedral chapter . Arducius was a loyal supporter of Emperor Friedrich Barbarossas , who granted the bishops of Geneva imperial immediacy in 1154 and 1165, respectively . During his tenure, the construction of the Geneva Cathedral began.
