Luboš Bartoň (born April 7, 1980 in Česká Lípa , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech basketball player . After studying in the United States, the Czech international played as a professional for three years in Italy and then for seven years in Spain . With the Catalan clubs Barcelona ( ULEB Euroleague 2009/10 ) and Badalona ( ULEB Cup 2007/08 , FIBA EuroCup 2005/06 ) he won the three most important European club competitions. After playing briefly in the German basketball league for the Phantoms Braunschweig in 2013 , he returned to the Spanish ACB league for a short-term contract in the 2013/14 season .

Career

Bartoň began his career with the youth team of the club from Děčín , near his birthplace in the north of the Czech Republic. He made his professional debut with the same club in the 1996/97 season and also played the 1997/98 championship there. He then played basketball at Valparaiso University from 1998 to 2002 and moved to Italy for the 2002/03 season after signing a contract with Fortitudo Bologna . For the 2003/04 season he moved to Pallacanestro Virtus Roma , where he also played the 2004/05 championship. From Italy he moved on to Spain after signing a contract with Joventut de Badalona . In 2008 he moved to FC Barcelona , where he played until 2010 before signing with Baloncesto Fuenlabrada . Barton played for Fuenlabrada until 2012 before returning to Catalonia for a few weeks and again helping out at Joventut Badalona. In the following season 2012/13 he did not join the USK Prague until December 2012 in his Czech homeland under coach Ken Scalabroni , but then moved to Germany in January 2013 and received a contract until the end of the season with the relegation-threatened first division club New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig who have already been trained by Scalabroni in the past. After the successful relegation, Barton first played the following season at his home club in Děčín, before returning to the Spanish ACB league for a short-term contract in December 2013, where he was active for the club from Valencia .
