Nantelmus (Bishop of Geneva)

Nantelmus was bishop of Geneva from 1185 to 1205 .

Nothing is known about its origin. He was a Carthusian , prior of the Carthusians of Vallon and Saint-Hugon. From 1181 Nantelmus was provost of the cathedral chapter of Geneva. The exact date of his election as bishop is unknown, he is first mentioned as bishop on November 11, 1185, when Emperor Friedrich I awarded him the regalia in Pavia . He accompanied the emperor in Italy and Germany until the following year. in 1188 a settlement with Count William I of Geneva ended the disputes between the Bishops of Geneva and the Counts of Geneva. Because of his age and poor health, he submitted a resignation, which Pope Innocent III. accepted on July 11, 1205.
