Bernard Chabert

Bernard Chabert († November 30th or December 1st / 2nd, 1235 ) was Bishop of Geneva from 1205 to 1212/13 and then Archbishop of Embrun until 1235 .

Life

Bernard is documented as Chancellor of the Church of Paris in 1205. He became Bishop of Geneva in 1205. He succeeded in preventing the threat to the rights of the diocese from Thomas I of Savoy in 1221 through his intervention. He had good relations with Pope Innocent III. who appointed him Archbishop of Embrun in 1212/13. There he promoted the establishment of the Franciscans .
