Argirios Giannikis ( Greek Αργύρης Γιαννίκης Argýris Gianníkis , born July 9, 1980 in Nuremberg ) is a German-Greek soccer coach . At the moment he is training PAS Ioannina in the second highest Greek league.

Career

Giannikis played as a youth in the youth department of the Karlsruher SC , where he did not pursue a further career as a player after the A-youth due to several injuries and instead began studying business administration .

From 2003 he trained the B-youth at Phönix Mannheim , before he took over the B and A-youth of VfL Neckarau in 2005 .

From 2007 Giannikis was active in various coaching positions at Karlsruher SC in the youth and in the second team. In 2010 he became the coach of the club's U19s, which competed in the U19 Bundesliga. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 he also coached the professional team of the KSC in the second Bundesliga three times as an interim coach alongside Markus Kauczinski . When Kauczinski was permanently appointed the new head coach of the professionals on March 27, 2012, Giannikis was also permanently assistant coach of the second division team. After relegation at the end of the season against SSV Jahn Regensburg , the coaching team and the team achieved direct promotion back to the second Bundesliga in the following season 2012/13. There the relegation could be achieved afterwards. In the 2014/15 season, the relegation against Hamburger SV just failed because of promotion to the first Bundesliga.

For the 2016/17 season , Giannikis joined the Bundesliga team FC Ingolstadt 04 as assistant coach with Kauczinski . After Kauczinski was released there after ten match days in November 2016, Giannikis also ended his work in Ingolstadt.

Giannikis started his first position as head coach in the senior division on October 14, 2017 with the regional league club Rot-Weiss Essen , with whom he signed a contract until the end of the season. Due to an announced change of club for the new 2018/19 season, he was dismissed from Essen on April 7, 2018 and replaced by Karsten Neitzel . In the 13 league games under his leadership, the team had gained 21 points by then.

For the new 2018/19 season he joined the third division club VfR Aalen , where he signed a two-year contract as the successor to Peter Vollmann . When the team was on the penultimate place in the table after the 22nd matchday in the league with only 17 points and four points behind a non - relegation place and was also eliminated from the WFV Cup , Giannikis was released there on February 10, 2019. His successor at VfR Aalen was Rico Schmitt .

For the 2019/20 season he was signed by the Greek second division club PAS Ioannina .
