Arie Slob (born November 16, 1961 in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel ) is a Dutch politician from the Christian University . Since October 2017 he has been Minister for Education and the Media in the Rutte III cabinet .

Life

Slob studied history and a. at the University of Groningen , and has been a teacher and project manager.

From 1993 to 2001 he was for the Gereformeerd Politiek Verbond (GPV), a forerunner of the ChristenUnie, member of the municipality council of the municipality of Zwolle . From 2001 to 2015, with an interruption of half a year in 2002, he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament . From 2007 to 2010 and from 2011 to 2015 he was also group chairman .

With parliamentarians Brigitte van der Burg ( VVD ) and th January Hoopen ( CDA ) put it in 2008 a bill before that the squat should push back. The bill was passed. The law came into force on October 1, 2010 . Since then, squatting has been banned.

Arie Slob is married and has four children. He lives in Zwolle and is a member of the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) .
