Arkadi Maximowitsch Abasa ( Russian Аркадий Максимович Абаза ; * 1848 in the village of Kuryliwka in Ujesd Sudscha in the Kursk Governorate ; † 1915 ) was a Russian music teacher and composer .

Life

Arkadi Maximowitsch Abasa comes from an impoverished aristocratic family. His father was Maxim Andrejowitsch Abasa, his mother Natalia Petrovna Lyalina. He had three older brothers, Alexander (born March 14, 1835), Ivan (born February 24, 1836) and Evgeni (born August 18, 1837). His parents encouraged him to play music. First he studied at the Music Academy in Kharkov , then at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory . His piano teacher was Alexander Dreyschock . He had singing lessons from Camille Everard (born November 15, 1825, † January 17, 1899). He later received piano lessons from Hans Bülow in Germany. In 1877 he opened a music school in Sumy and worked there as a teacher and pianist until 1881. The structure of his music school is reminiscent of the structure of a conservatory. There were lessons in piano, singing, playing stringed instruments and music theory. Then he went to Kursk on invitation and stayed there until his death in 1915. He supervised classes of the Russian Music Society ( Russkoe muzykal'noe obščestvo , RMO) and gave music lessons in schools.

Among his students were the violinists Michail Gawrilowitsch Erdenko and Konstantin Michailowitsch Dumtschew, the singer Nadeschda Wasiljewa Plewizkaja nee. Vinnikova and the composer Nikolai Andreyevich Roslavets .

Works

He wrote more than twenty romances and more than 30 piano pieces. The lyrics of many songs are by A. Kolzow.

The premiere was on the same day in the hall of the Здание дворянского собрания (Sdanije dworjanskogo sobranija), the building of the noble assembly in Kursk. The text of the hymn is said to come from Abasa himself. The St. Petersburg National Library has a copy of the hymn
