Arlington is an unincorporated area and a census-designated place in Dutchess County , New York in the United States . In 2000 the place had 12,481 inhabitants.
Arlington is a suburb of the City of Poughkeepsie and is part of the Town of Poughkeepsie .
According to the United States Census Bureau , the CDP has an area of 12.7 km², of which only 0.2% is water.
Demographics
At the time of the 2000 United States Census, Arlington was inhabited by 12,481 people. The population density was 985.5 people per km ². There were 4590 housing units at an average of 362.4 per km ². The population of Arlington was 77.01% White , 12.27% Black or African American , 0.18% Native American , 6.09% Asian , 0.04% Pacific Islander , 1.87% said other races belong to and 2.53% named two or more races. 5.38% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
