Armand Forel (born April 29, 1920 in Bern , † February 27, 2005 in Nyon ; entitled to live in Morges ) was a Swiss doctor and politician ( PdA ).

biography

Armand Forel was born the son of the psychiatrist Oscar Forel and grandson of the psychiatrist Auguste Forel . After completing his secondary education in various public and private schools, Forel completed a medical degree at the University of Lausanne . From 1950 Forel worked as a general practitioner in Nyon, where he became known as a doctor of the poor. Forel was married twice. His first wife was Renée Free. His second wife Madeleine (* 1938), b. Gumy was also politically active.

As an anti-fascist , Forel joined the Communist Party, which was banned in 1940, in 1943 and was a member of the Labor Party from 1945. From 1945 to 1988 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud . He was also a member of the National Council from 1947 to 1951 and from 1955 to 1980 . He was also a member of the Nyon Municipal Council, the executive branch, from 1957 to 1961 and from 1981 to 1989.

Forel campaigned for social issues and dealt with issues relating to the Swiss army .
