Armand Jackson
Armand "Jump" Jackson (born March 25, 1917 in New Orleans , † January 31, 1985 in Chicago ) was an American rhythm & blues - and blues - drummer and band leader .

"Jump" Jackson played with Johnny Morton, had his own band in the late 1940s, Jump Jackson and his Orchestra , with whom he worked on sessions for labels such as Columbia , Specialty and Aristocrat . With his band he accompanied singers such as St. Louis Jimmy , Roosevelt Sykes , Sunnyland Slim and Baby Doo Caston. As a drummer he took part in recordings of Big Joe Williams , Arthur Crudup and Robert Nighthawk . In 1959 he founded the label La Salle Records and began to produce recordings by Eddie Boyd , Eddy Clearwater, Little Mack Simmons , Memphis Slim and his own recordings. In 1962 he performed in Germany with Willie Dixon , T-Bone Walker and Memphis Slim at the American Folk Blues Festival . with Sonny Thompson he composed several tracks that were recorded by Smokey Smothers on the album Sings the Backporch Blues .
