Armando Guevera
Ramón Armando Guevara (born January 16, 1955 ) is a retired Venezuelan boxer .
Career
In 1975 Guevara won the silver medal of the Latin American Championships in the light flyweight (-48 kg). At the Central American and Caribbean Championships in the following year he reached the flyweight (-51 kg) silver medal and thus qualified for the Olympic Games in the same year. Here he reached after victories over Eduardo Baltar, Philippines (5: 0), and Dietmar Geilich , GDR (5: 0), the quarter-finals in the light flyweight division, in which he won the later silver medalist Li Byong-uk , North Korea , with 3: 2 judges' votes was subject.
At the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1977 Guevera won a bronze medal. The following year he won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Belgrade . In the preliminary round he beat Shamil Sabirow , Soviet Union , by a knockout victory in the first round. In the semifinals he was defeated by eventual world champion Stephen Muchoki , Kenya , with 5-0 judges' votes. In 1980 he qualified for the second time for the Olympic Games , but retired from the flyweight division after defeating Nyama Narantuya, Mongolia (5: 0), in the round of 16 against Jo Rion Sik, North Korea (4: 1).
