Armin Baumert

Armin Baumert (born April 20, 1943 in Grünberg in Silesia ) is a German sports official.

Life

Baumert was active as a long jumper. He became International British Indoor Champion in 1963 and German Indoor Champion in the long jump in 1966 . In the same year he won the silver medal at the 1st European Indoor Games with the new German record of 7.79 meters. He started for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen during his playing days and was trained by Bert Sumser .

In 1971 he completed his studies at the German Sport University with a diploma and taught in the following years as a sports teacher. From 1976 to 1979 he was the head trainer in the Berlin Athletics Association , then honorary trainer in the German Athletics Association .

In 1987 he took over the management of the Olympic Training Center in Berlin and from 1995 to 2004 he was the competitive sports director of the German Sports Confederation and the Federal Committee for competitive sports . From the beginning of 2007 to March 2011 he was Chairman of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).
