Armin Burkhardt

Armin Burkhardt (born November 14, 1952 in Vlotho ) is a German specialist in German and is on the board of the Society for German Language .

Life

Burkhardt studied 1973-1980 German Studies, English Studies and Philosophy at the Technical University of Braunschweig , received his doctorate in 1986 in Braunschweig to Dr. phil. and completed his habilitation there in 1993.

From 1980 to 1986 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Linguistics and Literature Studies at the TH Darmstadt . He then worked as a university assistant and lecturer at the seminar for German language and literature at the TU Braunschweig until 1995 . Since 1995 Burkhardt has been Professor of German Linguistics at the Institute for German Studies at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg .

He has held other offices since 1994 as chairman of the working group "Language in Politics" and since 1999 as scientific director of the language center at Otto von Guericke University. In 1999 he became an assessor on the main board of the Society for German Language .

Burkhardt is co-editor of the German Linguistics series . Research focuses include semantics and lexicography , philosophy of language and semiotics as well as language in politics and sport. He coined the term political linguistics .
