Armin Kreiner (born June 4, 1954 in Berg ) is a German theologian and professor of fundamental theology at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich.

From 1976 he studied theology and philosophy at the LMU in Munich, where he received his doctorate in 1985 and qualified as a professor in 1991. From 1982 he worked there as an assistant until he was appointed professor for fundamental theology and religious studies at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 1994 . He turned down a call to the Catholic University of Eichstätt .

Kreiner has been teaching fundamental theology at the University of Munich since 2003. His areas of work include the dialogue between science and theology and the theodicy problem. His work God in Sorrow is on the one hand a standard work, on the other hand he is also accused in the theological discussion of ultimately presenting a purely philosophical approach by ignoring Christ, which overlooks fundamental Christian theological questions.

Armin Kreiner is married and lives in Obergünzburg (Allgäu).
