Armin Werner
Armin Werner (born October 18, 1931 ) is a German former soccer player in the GDR soccer game . In its highest division, the GDR Oberliga , he was active for BSG Chemie Leipzig and SC Lokomotive Leipzig . He then was a coach in youth football at club and association level.
Athletic career
Before Werner became a first division player at SC Lokomotive Leipzig, he was a soccer player in Neudorf, Vogtland , from 1946 , most recently with the company sports association (BSG) Wismut, then he played in Leipzig for the BSG Einheit Ost and in 1952 for the fourth-class university sports association DHfK Leipzig. In the winter of 1952, the GDR upper division forward Leipzig recruited seven regular players from league rivals BSG Chemie Leipzig. Six new players from lower-class teams came to BSG Chemie to replace them, including 21-year-old Armin Werner.
Coach Walter Rose put Werner in the newly formed team as a left defender, and Werner kept this position until the end of the season. He missed only one point game and came in his first league season on 17 missions. In the season 1953/54 Werner was not used in the league games. When the new Lokomotive Leipzig sports club was founded in September 1954, Werner took over its football section along with most of the previous chemistry players. Under the new coach Alfred Kunze , Werner played 13 league games without interruption as a right defender from the 4th to the 16th match day of the 1954/55 season, a total of 16 appearances in the 26 round season. Werner completed his last league game on August 28, 1955. In the game of the 1st match day of the transition round 1955, which was played to align the schedule with the calendar year, SC Turbine Erfurt - SC Lok (1-0), he played as a left defender. Between 1953 and 1955 he had played 34 league games in which he had failed to score. Werner ended his career as a football player at the age of 23.
Werner took over SC Lok in 1955 as a football coach in the junior division. From 1958 to 1962 to 1962 Werner worked in the junior and youth division of the GDR Football Association (DFV) . The SC Leipzig , founded in 1963, hired him as a junior coach until 1965. From 1967 to 1969 Werner was head of the DFV Science Center, from 1971 to 1981 he was a DFV association trainer and member of the coaching council.
