course
The Arnitzbach rises on the northern slopes between Stanzling and Defregger Riegel and flows into the Arnitzsee just below its origin . It then flows further north and takes on further source streams below the Arnitzsee and in the area of the Arnitzwiesen. The Arnitzbach still flows past the Arnitzalm in the upper reaches, whereas the banks of the stream are wooded in the middle reaches. In the lower reaches of the Arnitzbach flows through a forest gorge and falls over a small waterfall. After entering the Virgental , the Arnitzbach flows into the Isel on the right. The Arnitzbach is located in the upper and middle reaches of the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol, in the lower reaches it forms the municipality boundary between the two municipalities over long distances. The confluence area, however, lies entirely on Virger municipality.
