Arno Zeuner

Arno Zeuner (* 1935 ) is a German sports educator and university lecturer .

Life

Zeuner studied in Leipzig from 1954 to 1959, then worked in school as a teacher for sport and Russian, then as a research assistant , later lecturer and professor at the University of Education in Zwickau . In 1992 he was appointed to the sports science faculty of the University of Leipzig , which was still being established at the time, and took up a professorship for school sports didactics.

In his research, Zeuner dealt in particular with school sport and led the projects “Synthesis of school sport methodological findings”, “The unity of opposites - a didactic understanding of method (physical education)”, “Dialectics of method - a school sport didactic approach” and “Self to make an effort - a neglected topic of school sports didactics ”. He published numerous contributions to collective works and magazine articles on school sports topics and made a decisive contribution to the training of sports teachers at the University of Leipzig's sports science faculty . He was co-author of the textbook "Sportiv Leichtathletik" published in 1997 and of "Sportiv apparatus gymnastics" in 2000, and in 1994 he published the textbook series "Education for Doing Sports". On the subject of sport in old age, together with Helmar Biering, he accompanied test subjects between 50 and 70 years of age in order to research the effects of regular exercise.
