Arno & Andreas

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arno and Andreas (spelling: Arno & Andreas ) was a singing duo , consisting of Arno Backhaus and Andreas Malessa , who became known in the Christian music scene and beyond in the twenty years of its existence.

history

In 1972 Arno Backhaus and Andreas Malessa formed the duo Arno & Andreas , which, due to its unconventional external appearance for the Christian-ecclesiastical context of the time and with critical texts, wanted to reach above all both Christian and non-Christian youth from the start. The duo soon made their modern way of “e-fun-gelising” known throughout the German-speaking region. Around 120 concerts followed throughout Germany and in Switzerland and Austria every year. Also in the GDR gave Arno & Andreasnumerous "secret" concerts. For example, a concert in a Protestant church in Chemnitz had to be played twice on the same evening, since 4,000 people turned up instead of the 2,000 people the church could have seated. In 1991 Arno & Andreas gave their final concert in Calden in front of 4,000 fans .

In terms of music style, Arno & Andreas initially moved between country and folk, but modernized their sound after about ten years at the urging of Andreas Malessa. So over the past ten years there has been intensive collaboration and joint tours with the Dieter Falk Band .

In 2011 the duo performed again after 20 years at the 17th Christian music fair Promikon as part of the David Award ceremony . This was considered the highlight of the retro show "Forever Young", which looked back at 50 years of Christian music in Germany.
