Arno Backhaus

Arno Backhaus (born November 27, 1950 ) is a German Christian songwriter , author and action artist who describes himself as an "e-fun-listed" and "missio fool".

Life

Backhaus was expelled from four schools during his school days in Kassel and had to repeat a school year three times. Together with Manfred Siebald , he attended the Sunday school of the Evangelical Free Church in Kassel in 1958 . Until he converted to Christianity at the age of 17 , he was involved in a variety of conflicts with teachers, neighbors and the police. At the age of 15, for example, he stole several thousand marks and handed them over to the lost property office so that he could legally receive them after the one-year period had expired. In the first two years after his conversion, he still stole, but donated the looted money to gospel broadcasting and other Christian organizations.

According to his own account, he was arrested once in the 1970s for singing Christian peace songs at a demonstration against the NPD . The case against him has been dropped.

After completing an apprenticeship as a wholesaler , Backhaus studied social work at the Kassel University . After that, he initially managed the adventure playground and the play area in the Brückenhofsiedlung in the Kassel district of Oberzwehren . He discovered his musical talent in the YMCA . From 1972 to 1991 he formed the duo Arno & Andreas with Andreas Malessa . Since its dissolution, Backhaus, who can neither read nor write music , has given solo concerts and has developed over 150 street actions with which he advertises the Christian faith in an unconventional way, for example by giving away money. The latter was prohibited by the police in Bavaria.

In addition, Backhaus, who is affected by this disorder both himself and as a father, gives lectures on ADHD as well as marriage seminars with his wife.

Arno Backhaus has been married to Hanna since 1972. The couple has three children and lives in the Calden district of Meimbressen . He is a member of the management team of the "Christ Church at the Airport" in Calden.
