Promikon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Promikon ( project for missionary concert work ) is an association in Germany and at the same time the name of a music fair for Christian music.

Focus

There are artists and organizers of modern Christian music and other art forms, e.g. B. Comedy and Theater, supervised and brought together. The supervised artists include: B. Judy Bailey and Florence Joy .

The largest forum for this is the annual artist fair. In addition to the exhibition, numerous stage shows, seminars and workshops will take place during the fair.

The David Award music prize has been presented on it since 2007 . This prize was already available in a similar form as the Promikon Award.

The association publishes an artist handbook with around 200 listed artists.

history

In 1991, the religious and community educator Christoph Buskies in Greifenstein started the concept Promikon , an acronym for the project of missionary concert work . It sees itself as a link between organizers and Christian artists. In 1992, an association of the same name was founded in Kaarst - Büttgen with its headquarters in Greifenstein. As an agency service, it publishes an artist fair and a biennial artist handbook. The inclusion in the Promikon artist handbook is a prerequisite for an appearance at the Promikon artist fair.

Fair

In 1993 the first Promikon fair took place in a Protestant parish in Büttgen on the Lower Rhine , a district of Kaarst in the Rhine district of Neuss ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). With increasing success annually in Wetzlar in the Lahn-Dill district ( Hesse ). After that, a permanent location was given up. The last venues were Mannheim (2005 and 2006) and Gießen (2007 and 2009).

Promikon Award and David Award

The Christian music prize awarded during the mass was renamed from Promikon Award to David Award in 2007 and thus set a reference to the biblical musician and King David .

The award is presented by the Christian youth broadcaster Tru Young Television and the Promikon. Christian musicians are honored in the various - sometimes changing - categories, e.g. B. National Artist , International Artist , Newcomer , Music Clip , Website Artist / Band , Album, and Artist Personality .

After a preselection made by an expert jury made up of representatives of the organizing media of the Christian music scene, the nominations for the award are made in an online vote. An exception is the prize in the artist personality category , which is awarded exclusively by the jury. In addition to the artistic aspects of the respective categories, the reference to the Christian faith and the value orientation of the works are also assessed.
