Sarah Brendel (* in Hanover ) is a German singer and songwriter.
biography
Beginnings
Sarah Brendel grew up in the Lower Saxony city of Vechta . She started making music at the age of 16. She was inspired by Bob Dylan and Larry Norman . After Jens Zander, a budding sound engineer, recorded her first songs in a studio in East Friesland , these tape recordings spread quickly. Albert Frey also heard Sarah Brendel's songs and produced the first EP Higher Hope with her in 1998 , with which Sarah immediately got a record deal. Only a few years later, Sarah recorded her album Subrosa in Kansas City , USA, with Kevin Prosch .
In 2003 the second album followed, Under the Fire , produced by Udo Rinklin. This album was also released in the USA. In 2004 Sarah Brendel gave numerous concerts, including with Daniel Benjamin , and wrote new songs. During this time, Sarah Brendel was also a member of the “ Zeichen der Zeit” project , which included Xavier Naidoo , Laith Al-Deen and Yvonne Catterfeld , among others . She sang the hit You are not alone with, which was in the top 10 of the charts in Germany for over 20 weeks.
In the USA
Through the contacts of her German label, Sarah Brendel had the opportunity to get a record deal with the US label Inpop Records . In the summer of 2005 the album Sarah Brendel , which mainly contained songs from the album Under the Fire , was released in the USA. Sarah Brendel lived in Nashville , USA for a few months and went on tour in the USA. In winter 2005 she returned to Germany, recorded her EP One Day Recordings on December 2nd, 2005 and gave concerts in Germany and other European countries.
Back in Germany
In 2006 Sarah performed with a band for the first time in two years in Germany. Her songs were no longer as pop-oriented as one was used to from the album Under the Fire , but clearly shaped by independent rock with folk influences. In 2006 she played over 150 concerts. In 2007 Sarah Brendel and her band played concerts in Germany at festivals in Denmark, Slovakia, the Netherlands and the Faroe Islands . In 2008 she gave a concert at the Freakstock Festival in Gotha and played in Switzerland and Hungary. In these two years she played more than 250 concerts. For a recording session in Berlin in May 2007, she was able to win Larry Norman , who was on a European tour, and sang two songs with him that can be heard on her new album. In September 2008 her album Early Morning Hours was released by Gerth Medien .
Sarah Brendel is also an artist ambassador for the human rights organization International Justice Mission and performs at benefit concerts to raise awareness of violence against poor people around the world. Together with other musicians she recorded the CD "Songs for Justice".
Artist community Röhrsdorf
At the end of 2008, Sarah Brendel moved to Röhrsdorf Castle . In 2009 she became a mother. In 2010 she was awarded the German Rock & Pop Prize of the DRMV in 4 categories . In 2011 she began recording a new album in a studio in Röhrsdorf Castle. In 2012 she became a mother for the second time.

Special concerts and performances
- 2005 Brendel played at the World Youth Day in Cologne .
- In May 2006 Sarah Brendel performed with Rebecca St. James in the Faroe Islands. This concert there was one of the biggest concerts in the last 10 years, and it opened for The Rasmus at a big Faroe Islands festival.
- In early October 2007 she performed in Los Angeles at the world's largest television service.
- In March 2009, Sarah and her band played a prison tour.
