Arnold Leonhard Cloetta

Arnold Leonhard Cloetta (born April 27, 1828 in Trieste , † February 11, 1890 in Lugano ) was a pathologist and pharmacologist .

He studied at the universities in Zurich, Würzburg, Vienna, Berlin and Paris. In 1851 he received his doctorate from the University of Zurich with the thesis Diffusion experiments through membranes with two salts . From 1854 he was a general practitioner. In 1857 he became professor for forensic medicine and general pathology in Zurich and in 1870 professor for pharmaceutical theory.

He married Maria Locher. After two daughters, their son Max Cloëtta was born on July 21, 1868 in Zurich .
