Arnold Schmitt (born August 8, 1954 in Trier ) is a German politician ( CDU ). Since 2006 he has been a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Schmitt graduated from high school in 1974 and was then in the Bundeswehr until 1976, where he served as first lieutenant. R. left. From 1976 to 1981 he completed his studies at the University of Trier , which he finished with a degree in business administration. From 1982 to 1989 Schmitt worked as the regional sales manager for a photo chain in Cologne . In 1989 he became a managing partner of Schmitt GmbH in Schweich .

Schmitt became a member of the CDU in 1970. In 1993 he was elected chairman of the CDU community association in Schweich . From 2002 to 2006 he was deputy chairman of the CDU district association Trier-Saarburg . Then he became chairman. On May 18, 2006 Schmitt became a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate by winning the direct mandate in the constituency of Trier / Schweich , which he was able to defend in 2011. There he is chairman of the committee for agriculture and viticulture.

Arnold Schmitt is married, has two children and lives in Riol , where he was the local mayor from 1994 to 2014 .
