Arnold Schulman
Arnold Schulman (born August 11, 1925 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American playwright , screenwriter , film producer , songwriter and writer . As a stage actor , he has long appeared with the American Theater Wing and The Actors Studio .
Life
Schulman grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and then studied writing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . He served in the United States Navy and moved to New York City in 1946 . There he studied dramaturgy with Robert Anderson at the American Theater Wing. His first works were recorded for television in the 1950s. He used this as a stepping stone for his Hollywood career from 1957.
First work in Hollywood was 1957 Wild is the Wind , a new edition of Storms of Passion (1947). It was for this film that he received his first nomination from the Writers Guild of America for Best Screenplay. Two more followed: for One Size Too Big (1959) and for In Love with a Stranger (1963). For the latter, he was nominated for an Oscar in 1963 . Another Oscar nomination came in 1970 for the screenplay for The Devil with Innocence , with which he won the Writers Guild of America. In 1994 he won the Humanitas Prize for ... and life goes on . He also received a CableACE Award .
Schulman is mentioned in the credits of the movie Spiel mit der Liebe , but he himself didn't contribute to the movie. He had withdrawn his involvement too late.
