Arnold von Berg
Arnold von Berg-Altena († December 15, 1190 before Akkon ) was bishop of Osnabrück from 1173 .
His parents were Count Adolf II von Berg and Irmgard von Wasserburg, the daughter of Count Engelbert von Attel and Reichenhall . His brothers were the Archbishops of Cologne, Friedrich II. Von Berg and Bruno III. from mountain .
He supported the Hohenstaufen against Henry the Lion . Arnold von Berg-Altena promoted urban development and founded Wiedenbrück . Formally he was subordinate to the Ascan-Saxon Duchy.
He took part in the Third Crusade under Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa and died of an illness during the siege of Acre in 1190 .
