Engelbert von Attel and Reichenhall (* around 1100; † 20 September 1161 ) was Count von Attel or Count von Wasserburg and Hallgraf for the salt industry in Hall , today's Bad Reichenhall . He had his headquarters near Attel at Lintburg Castle (also called Limburg ).

His parents were Count Gebhard I. von Wasserburg and Richgard von Spanheim († approx. 1130).

When his son Gebhard II. - mentioned in 1159 as Gebehardus Hallensis comes , 1166 as comes Hallensis de Wazzerburch (Hallgraf von Wasserburg) - entered the monastery of Stift Reichersberg in 1169 , the Hallgrafschaft came into the hands of the Bavarian Duke Heinrich the Lion .

He was a supporter of the Hohenstaufen and restored Attel Abbey in today's Attel district of the municipality of Wasserburg am Inn .
