The Arpe is an 8.7 km long orographically left tributary of the Wenne in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . The stream flows in the west of the Hochsauerlandkreis and should not be confused with the Arpe der Wenne tributary of the same name near Niederberndorf.

The Arpe rises on the northeast flank of the Estenberg (610.4 m) at an altitude of 500  m above sea level. NN . From here the brook flows mainly to the north and flows through Grevenstein . The stream flows into mountains at an altitude of 245  m above sea level. NN on the left in the Wenne .

On its 8.7 km long path, the stream overcomes a height difference of 255 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 29.3 ‰. The Arpe drains a 19.599 km² catchment area via Wenne, Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .

Most of the lower reaches of the Arpe lie in the nature reserve valley area of ​​the Arpebach .
