Arshad Nadeem (born January 2, 1997 in Khanewal ) is a Pakistani athlete who specializes in throwing the javelin .

Athletic career

Arshad Nadeem gained his first international experience at the South Asian Games in Guwahati , where he won the bronze medal with 78.33 m. Then he also won the Junior Asian Championships in Ho Chi Minh City behind the Japanese Junya Sado and the Indian Neeraj Chopra with 73.40 m bronze. He then took part in the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz and was eliminated there with 67.17 m in qualification. In 2017 he won the bronze medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku with 76.33 m. At the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar he finished seventh with 78.00 m. In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and finished eighth there with 76.02 m in the final. He had previously set a new national record in qualifying with 80.45 m. At the end of August he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time , where he won the bronze medal behind Chopra and the Chinese Liu Qizhen with a new national record of 80.75 m .

In 2019 he finished sixth at the Asian Championships in Doha with 78.55 m. At the beginning of October he took part in the World Championships there and was eliminated from the qualification with a new national record of 81.52 m . He succeeded in further improving this record when he won the South Asian Games in 2019 with 86.29 m.

In 2015, 2017 and 2018, Nadeem became the Pakistani javelin champion.
