The art of acting , a former drama school in Berlin, was a private, state-approved supplementary school according to § 102 School Act . It was founded in 2006 and existed until 2016.

The rooms of the drama school were located at Neumagener Str. 25 in Berlin-Weißensee on the grounds of the Kreativstadt Weißensee European / Creative City (ECC).

The school offered BAföG- recognized vocational training with the professional qualification: "Certified actor" / "Certified actress for theater, film and television (art of acting)". The training lasted three years. At least 20 hours per week were taught. At least 6 weeks of vacation were guaranteed per academic year. Classes usually took place on four consecutive days of the week.

In acting, the students learned the necessary artistic tools to be able to work professionally on a stage or in front of the camera. The curriculum was based on the principles of the Russian-Soviet drama teacher KS Stanislavski . The school management found the American method acting very enriching . Working methods of leading representatives such as: Lee Strasberg , Stella Adler , Susan Batson , Sanford Meisner and Larry Moss were integrated into their training. In the voice / speaking subject, they combined Kristin Linklater's modern training with the principles of classic speech training . In addition to the basics of stage movement, the subject of movement included a. classical and modern dance , acrobatics , mask play , stage fighting and Grotowski bodywork. The subject theory consisted of theater history , film history , acting methodology, drama analysis, dramaturgy , performance practice, theater forms, genres, and contemporary history pieces. In addition, modules such. B. stage fencing and biomechanics offered.

Every work from the 2nd semester resulted in public performances at the school as well as at various Berlin venues. From 2011 to 2016 there was a close cooperation with the Brotfabrik -Bühne Berlin. In the summer the annual summer theater went on tour to Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Studio & Company

In addition to acting training, there was the acting studio with acting courses and the acting company. The areas "art of acting - drama school" and "art of acting - company" worked closely together. Freshmen got into performing practice so quickly. Graduates remained attached to the school.
