Arthur Geoffrey Woodhead

Arthur Geoffrey Woodhead (born April 2, 1922 in Nottingham , † November 6, 2008 in Cambridge ) was a British ancient historian and epigraphist .

He studied Classical Studies at the University of Cambridge (MA 1949) and worked there all his life as a Fellow at Corpus Christi College (since 1948) and Lecturer in Classics (since 1951). His main area of ​​research was Greek epigraphy. From 1951 to 1971 he was editor of the Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum . Woodhead was a member of the German Archaeological Institute and invited several times as a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
