Arthur Geoffrey Woodhead
Arthur Geoffrey Woodhead (born April 2, 1922 in Nottingham , † November 6, 2008 in Cambridge ) was a British ancient historian and epigraphist .
He studied Classical Studies at the University of Cambridge (MA 1949) and worked there all his life as a Fellow at Corpus Christi College (since 1948) and Lecturer in Classics (since 1951). His main area of research was Greek epigraphy. From 1951 to 1971 he was editor of the Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum . Woodhead was a member of the German Archaeological Institute and invited several times as a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
