Live and act
Parisius, who grew up with his grandmother, allegedly entered the port of Amsterdam as a stowaway on board the SS De Cottica of the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Stoomboot Maatschappij in January 1928. In 1931 he formed a negro duo that performed with Teddy Cotton and performed American dances such as the Black Bottom . In the next few years he performed in various nightclubs and played dance and light music. In 1936 he led the Suriname Plantation Band (with Lex Vervuurt and Walther Rens), which also appeared on Radio VARA ; in a 1937 report on him in Jazzwereld magazine , positive quotes about him were reproduced by Benny Carter and Coleman Hawkins , of whom he was a fan. In the next few years he played Cuban music with Max Woiski in Rotterdam and Swing with the Collegians of Lou van Rees. In 1941 he founded his Colored Band before the opportunity to perform in the Netherlands became increasingly difficult under the German occupation.
After the liberation he played for the soldiers of the Allies; from 1946 he belonged to The Grasshoppers , with whom he also appeared in Switzerland and Spain. In late 1947 he founded Kid Dynamite and his Jungle Rhythms , with whom he worked for the next few years. In 1952 he played in a band around Boy Edgar in Amsterdam as the opening act for Dizzy Gillespie and was compared to Illinois Jacquet by critics . In the next few years he also worked with the Skymasters for radio and made some recordings, including a version of the Banana Boat song . He also appeared in a quartet with Cees Slinger , Dick van der Capellen and Wally Bishop , then with Nedly Elstak . He also toured Switzerland and Germany with Rico Fernando's orchestra. In 1963 Parisius had an accident in a car in Buchholz ; he died of the consequences in a Hamburg hospital.
