Arthur Tetzlaff

Arthur Tetzlaff (born November 2, 1871 in Prenzlau , † December 12, 1949 in Berlin-Zehlendorf ) was a German publisher .

Life

Tetzlaff was born in Prenzlau ( Uckermark ) on November 2nd, 1871 as the son of a businessman and banker . He studied philosophy and literature in Halle and Berlin and received his doctorate with a thesis on the children's characters of Shakespeare .

On January 1, 1900, he founded the publishing bookstore Gose & Tetzlaff in Berlin, which mainly published fiction, but also the specialist journal Der Railway Switches. With the first edition of the magazine Das Stellwerk , the forerunner of today's Signal und Draht , he founded the publishing house Dr. Arthur Tetzlaff .

After the Second World War , the management of the publishing house gradually passed to his only son, Rudolf Tetzlaff . Tetzlaff died on December 12, 1949 as a result of a serious operation.
