Richard Arthur Winkler (born February 17, 1865 in Krefeld , † July 26, 1944 in Hamburg-Rahlstedt ) was a German silk merchant and bronze artist.

biography

Arthur Winkler learned the trade of silk merchant and at the age of 25 founded his own silk agency in Krefeld. His talent for modeling was discovered by chance and the artisans at IP Kayser Sohn (Krefeld) instructed him in the use of tools and materials. Winkler continued to work as a silk merchant, but around 1900 he set up a studio on St.-Anton-Straße in Krefeld and worked there as an artistic self-taught .

He also published a book of poems under the title "Sounds from the Lower Rhine" and a series in his home country with the title "Chatting about old Krefeld conditions". At the age of 63 Winkler moved to his daughter in Hamburg, where he died after a long illness.
