Arthur von Ungern-Sternberg

Arthur Karl Konstantin von Ungern-Sternberg (born January 31, 1885 in Korast , Livonia Governorate ; † July 11, 1949 in Gera ) was a German theologian and Evangelical Lutheran superintendent .

Life

Von Ungern-Sternberg studied Protestant theology . In 1917 he was ordained pastor and, as a master of theology, was appointed pastor and later chief pastor of Brüheim . In the 1920s, his was carried Promotion to doctor of theology.

Von Ungern-Sternberg opened up to ethnic and anti-Semitic convictions and joined the church movement of the German Christians and in 1939 became superintendent of Ronneburg (Thuringia) . At the end of 1941 he was included on a list of new employees at the Eisenach Institute for Research and Elimination of Jewish Influence on German Church Life . In January 1945 he was one of the Thuringian provosts who urged the DC church president Hugo Rönck to accept the title of bishop . Due to the law on the review of the pastorate and the administration of the Thuringian Protestant Church (cleaning law) of December 12, 1945 Ungern-Sternberg was dismissed from the pastoral service and the title "Superintendent on hold" was withdrawn from him. He was initially employed as a pastor in Ronneburg, and from December 1, 1947 he was officially reinstated as pastor in Niederpöllnitz .
