Artur Grenz
Artur Grenz (born April 17, 1909 in Bremen , † September 14, 1988 in Quickborn ) was a German composer .
Life
Artur Grenz studied at the University of Music in Berlin under Paul Hindemith , Georg Schünemann and Artur Rother . After completing his studies Grenz first worked as a violist in various orchestras, a. a. the Hamburg Radio Orchestra of the NWDR and the Berlin Opera Orchestra. After the Second World War he founded a music school in Bad Kissingen and the North Franconia Orchestra in Schweinfurt . After the radio orchestra was dissolved in 1964, Grenz moved to Quickborn and worked as a high school teacher at the local Dietrich Bonhoeffer high school . He founded a music school and the ensemble Collegium Musicum .
In honor of its musical importance for the musical life in Quickborn, the assembly hall of the Comenius School is named "Artur-Grenz-Saal".
