Artur Oppman

Artur Franciszek Michał Oppman (pseudonym: Or-Ot ; * August 14, 1867 in Warsaw ; † October 4, 1931 there ) was a Polish writer.

Oppman was the son of Artur Emil Oppman (1840-1907), the founder of the Warsaw mustard factory Pierwsza Warszawska Fabryka Musztardy "Arthur et Co." . His son studied Polish literature from 1891 to 1893 at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. From 1901 to 1905 he was editor of the magazine Wędrowca , then until 1920 co-editor of Tygodnik Ilustrowany . As a high school student, he published his first poems in the magazine Dziennik dla Wszystkich in 1883 . Other poems appeared a. a. in the magazine Świt , edited by Maria Konopnicka , Kurier Poranny , Kurier Warszawski and Tygodnik Ilustrowany . Oppman's first volume of poetry, Poezje , was published in 1889, followed by several other collections of poetry and the memory book My Warsaw . In addition, he appeared with poems, fairy tales and legends for children who u. a. published in the collections Moja Biblioteczka and Moje Książeczki .
