Arturo Jara Marquez

Arturo Jara Márquez SDB (born June 26, 1880 in Lontué , Talca province , † February 10, 1939 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean religious priest and Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicar of Magallanes-Islas Malvinas .

Life

After entering the order and studying philosophy and theology, he was ordained a priest on April 25, 1905 .

On January 29, 1926, Pope Pius XI appointed him . as Apostolic Vicar of Magallanes-Islas Malvinas, connected with the titular diocese of Archelaïs . On the same day, Benedetto Cardinal Aloisi Masalle was consecrated as a bishop . Co-consecrators were the bishops Abraham Aguilera Bravo SDB and Miguel León Prado .

He worked particularly among the Kawesqar .

In 1938 he resigned from office for health reasons and died on February 10 of the following year.
