Arun (name)
Arun , ( Hindi अरुण ) is a Sanskrit male given name, which means something like sun , dawn ; it also designates the associated colors: deep red, fire red, golden red, ruby red . - In Indian mythology, Aruna ( Sanskrit अरुण ) serves as a spiritual personification of the dawn to the sun god Sūrya ( Sanskrit सूर्य ) as a charioteer at sunrise. As the son of Rishi Kashyapa and the Vinata , he is the brother of the winged god Garuda , who in turn serves Vishnu as a mount. Both had sprung from eggs; see. also the ancient legend of the Dioscuri or Leda .
- The name also occurs in compound words, e.g. B. in the name of the state of Arunachal Pradesh ( Land of Dawn ) located in northeast India , as well as in Hindu-influenced Southeast Asia in religious or cultural contexts, e.g. B. at the temple Wat Arun in Bangkok .
- There is no relationship with the biblical name Aaron (Hebrew ark, ark, ark ).
