Arvidsjaurs Järnvägsförening
Arvidsjaurs Järnvägsförening (AJF) is a Swedish railway company based in Arvidsjaur , which mainly offers journeys with historic trains on the inland railway .
history
When the continued existence of the inland railway was threatened in the 1980s, Arvidsjaurs Järnvägsförening was founded in 1986 as an association with the aim of promoting and maintaining rail traffic on the inland railway and the Jörn – Arvidsjaur railway line .
After the Inlandsbahn was able to be secured in its existence in the 1990s (see: here ), the activity of the association shifted to collecting and operating historic railway vehicles . Over the years, the association has built up a considerable collection and now carries out scheduled traffic on the inland railway.
The main offer is steam train journeys between Arvidsjaur and Slagnäs . The journey in Buddnakk at the Storavan is interrupted for barbecuing and swimming. Only the AJF trains stop here. Another offer is trips to the winter market in Jokkmokk in historic diesel railcars . Moreover chartered the AJF special trains to private purchasers, such as for the TV series railway romance of SWR .
