Asad Iqbal (born April 11, 1986 ) is a Pakistani athlete who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Asad Iqbal gained his first international experience in 2005 when he retired from the Summer Universiade in Izmir in the 400 meter run with 48.57 seconds in the first round. The following year he was disqualified in the preliminary stages of the World Indoor Championships in Moscow and then won the bronze medal behind the teams from Sri Lanka and India with the Pakistani 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 11.35 min at the South Asian Games in Colombo and finished fifth over 400 meters in 48.11 s. Four years later he was also fifth in the individual competition at the South Asian Games in Dhaka in 49.02 seconds and won the bronze medal behind India and Sri Lanka in 3: 16.70 minutes in the relay. In 2013 he took part in the Asian Championships in Pune for the first time, but was eliminated there with 48.85 s in the first round. In 2016 he retired at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha with 48.71 seconds in the preliminary round and then won the bronze medal behind the teams from India and Sri Lanka in 3: 14.82 minutes at the South Asian Games in Guwahati and reached 47.42 seconds in the individual competition s fourth place. The following year he reached seventh place at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with the relay in 3: 11.42 min and then won the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with a new national record of 3: 11.40 min.

In 2009, 2012 and 2013 Iqbal became the Pakistani champion in the 400-meter run.
