Life

Askanius Hainbogen or Heinbogen was born on October 2, 1705 as the son of wealthy parents in Freising and baptized with the name Franziskus. After studying high school in Freising, he entered the Premonstratensian monastery in Neustift in 1724 and celebrated his first holy day on December 21, 1729. Fair. Soon he became vicar in Haindlfing , then novice master, and on April 26, 1740, at the relatively young age of 35, was elected abbot.

The War of the Austrian Succession broke out right at the beginning of his term of office. In 1748 the rectory in Allershausen was cremated by a lightning strike, with all books and writings burned. It could only be rebuilt with the help of the monastery. On May 27, 1751, another fire disaster reduced the monastery, church, adjoining apartments and utility building to rubble and ashes within half an hour. Abbot Askanius collected money everywhere and began to rebuild. The newly built church was consecrated in 1756. The economic buildings were not completed until 1766.

Increasingly demented since 1772, Abbot Askanius resigned from office in early 1775. He died soon after.

It is said that he was intent on increasing the monastery library.
