The Aschenstein is a 945 meter high mountain in the front mountain range of the Bavarian Forest above the village of Zenting .

Since better known peaks such as the Brotjacklriegel or the Geißlstein are in the immediate vicinity, the inconspicuous Aschenstein is rarely visited. There is no marked hiking trail on its rocky summit with a small summit cross and a hunting lodge, but it can be reached quickly from the Geißlstein without a path. Since the south side is now overgrown, there is no longer a view.

On an elevation between Aschenstein and Geißlstein there is a viewing rock with a cross. The nameless survey was named Kleiner Aschenstein by the Zenting municipal council at the meeting on December 7, 2009 . On the small Aschenstein there is a small summit cross and a summit book. The view from the summit is surprisingly beautiful. To the south, the view opens over the entire Dreiburgenland with Thurmansbang and Zenting , with the influence of the foehn the view extends to the summit chain of the Northern Limestone Alps from the Dachstein to the Zugspitze . Due to the short ascent from Daxtein, Haunstein, Bärndorf, Winden or Fradlberg, the Geißlstein is frequently visited.
